Chen style is the oldest form of taijiquan and the parent form of the five main styles. It is characterized by its lower stances, silk reeling movements (chan si jin) and bursts of power (fa jin) which are applied to martial techniques throughout the form.
The Cannon Fist (Pao Chui) Form is a popular routine for many Chen Style practitioners. It is characterised by spiralling energy and many combative movements using fa jin. The internal force within the fa jin movements is generated through silk reeling and then released at the appropriate time throughout the form in correspondence with the movement’s martial application.
